Hydrologist in Greenland

A position as Hydrologist is vacant at Asiaq – Greenland Survey. Here is a chance to work with Greenland Ecosystem Monitoring programme!

Asiaq offers a job with challenging tasks within arctic hydrology in Greenland. You will assess water resources for hydro power and water supply, as well as develop the knowledge about arctic hydrology through research projects with international partners. The tasks include collection and quality check of hydrological data, data analysis, modelling and dissemination of results.

 

You will develop and expand our projects within hydrology in collaboration with Asiaq’s scientific staff and technicians and with our external customers and collaborators. You will be part of the Hydrology and Climate group which currently includes eight dedicated colleagues.

 

The job is based in Nuuk, the Capital of Greenland, but during the summer the job will include field work all around Greenland. You have a good health and are ready to stay in a tent in the wilderness for shorter periods of time.

You have a master’s degree and work experience within hydrology, preferable in the Arctic. You have knowledge and experience with ground based measurements as well as data handling and analysis. Experience with the WISKI database, modelling and GIS will be an advantage.

 

You are resourceful and ready to tackle problems that are new to you. Your spoken and written English is excellent. Knowledge of Danish language is an advantage. You work well in a team of people from different cultures.

 

Employment terms and conditions

Employment will be in accordance with the collective agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant trade union. Staff accommodation will be assigned in accordance with applicable rules. Relocation and travel costs will be paid for the employee, accompanying partner and children at the time of taking up employment, as well as when leaving after at least three years of employment.
